WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO TREAT OTHER AS YOU WANT THEM TO TREAT YOU
The Mosaic Law, found in Leviticus 19:18, states: "You shall not take vengeance or bear a grudge against the sons of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself." This law was a commandment for the Israelites to treat their fellow community members with love and respect.
The Golden Rule, on the other hand, is a teaching of Jesus Christ, found in Matthew 7:12, which states: "So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them." This teaching expands on the Mosaic Law by emphasizing the importance of actively showing love and kindness to all people, not just those in your immediate community.
The Efficacy of the name of Jesus
The difference between the Mosaic Law and the Golden Rule is that the Mosaic Law focused on not harming or seeking revenge, whereas the Golden Rule emphasizes actively showing love and kindness. The Golden Rule takes it a step further by encouraging us to treat others with the same love and care that God has shown us, which is a reflection of His grace.
Grace is the unmerited favor and love of God, and it is this grace that enables us to love our neighbors as ourselves. By receiving God's grace and love, we are empowered to extend that same love and kindness to others, demonstrating the Golden Rule in our lives.
In Christ Jesus, we are operating in grace dimensions, declared righteous (2 Corinthians 5:21) and seated with Him in the heavenly places (Ephesians 2:6). This means we have been positioned in a place of authority and victory, far above principalities and powers.
By sitting together with Jesus, we benefit from:
- Access to heavenly resources and wisdom
- Authority over spiritual forces
- Intimacy with God and His presence
- A new perspective on life and circumstances
- Empowerment to live a victorious life
Our victory is secure in Christ, and we can confidently declare:
- "I am seated with Christ in the heavenly places, far above principalities and powers."
- "I am declared righteous and justified through faith in Jesus Christ."
- "I have access to heavenly resources and wisdom."
- "I am empowered to live a victorious life in Christ."
