Chapter 1

How to be Led by the Holy Spirit

Romans 8:14, says, for as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

This verse   didn't say if you are born again you’re the son of God, but it says those that are Spirit led are the Sons of God.

John 1:12, says, but as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.

What this place is saying is that when we are born again God fills our Spirit with His Holy Spirit which enables Him to lead us. And when we are led we become the sons of God. Allowing the Holy Spirit to lead us is our own responsibility. We have a part to play in letting the Holy Spirit have full control of our lives.

You can be born again, filled with the Holy Spirit, speak in tongues yet you're not a son of God. I mean, not all believers are sons of God but those who are led by the Holy Spirit. The word led as used in Romans 8:14, is likening the believers to the Shepherd and his sheep especially when the sheep allowed the Shepherd to tie a rope on the neck so that the shepherd   have full control of the sheep.

When you are led by the Holy Spirit you have no control of yourself but the Holy Spirit has total control of you. You no longer do whatever you want, you don't say whatever you want to say but what he wants you to say, the Holy Spirit is the one in charge of your life.

  

The Holy Spirit wants to work through you, talk to you. He wants to change the world through you. So you are not a son of God until you give the Holy Spirit the opportunity to take control over your life.

The word sons of God as used in Romans 8:14, is translated in Greek as Huios. Then in Romans 8:16-17, the Children of God here is not talking about Huios, it's talking about Tekna.
