“WHY WORRY? ALL THINGS ARE YOURS”
Text:
1 Corinthians 3:21–23 (KJV)
> “Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are yours; Whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come; all are yours; And ye are Christ’s; and Christ is God’s.”
INTRODUCTION
Worry is the language of unbelief. It is a sign that we have forgotten who we are and what belongs to us in Christ. Many believers live as though they are poor, weak, and helpless—when in truth, God has already given them everything they need for life and godliness.
Paul’s declaration, “All things are yours,” is not poetic exaggeration; it is divine reality.
The reason many Christians worry is because they are unaware of what they already have. Worry ends when revelation begins. Once you understand that all things are yours in Christ, you stop chasing what’s already been given—you start resting in God’s finished work.
1. UNDERSTANDING THE CONTEXT
In 1 Corinthians 3, Paul was correcting believers who were divided over human leaders—some said, “I follow Paul,” others, “I follow Apollos.” Paul reminded them that no man owns them; rather, they all belong to Christ.
Then he made a profound statement: “All things are yours.”
In other words:
Stop comparing yourself with others.
Stop feeling limited or disadvantaged.
Stop worrying about what others have—everything that truly matters is already yours in Christ.
2. WHAT DOES “ALL THINGS ARE YOURS” MEAN?
When Paul said “all things,” he meant:
All creation — because God made the world for His children (Psalm 8:6).
All blessings — spiritual, material, eternal (Ephesians 1:3).
All opportunities — doors, favor, and divine connections.
All seasons — whether good or bad, they work for your good (Romans 8:28).
All times — past, present, and future are under your Father’s control.
So, when you worry about your needs, your future, or your life, you are acting as if you don’t already possess what God has freely given.
3. WHY BELIEVERS WORRY
Even though all things are ours, we still worry because:
1. We forget who we are.
We are heirs of God and joint-heirs with Christ (Romans 8:17).
2. We doubt God’s love.
But if He gave His Son, how shall He not freely give us all things? (Romans 8:32).
3. We are moved by sight, not faith.
Worry thrives where faith is absent.
4. We don’t renew our minds with the Word.
Without constant reminder, the pressures of life make us forget divine truth.
4. WHAT TO DO INSTEAD OF WORRYING
(a) Remember Your Identity in Christ
You are not a beggar; you are a son or daughter of the King.
God’s resources are not limited.
Worry says, “I’m alone,” but faith says, “God is with me.”
(b) Speak Faith-Filled Words
Declare, “All things are mine in Christ.”
Replace anxiety with affirmation.
Philippians 4:6–7 — “Be anxious for nothing…”
(c) Practice Gratitude
Worry fades in a thankful heart.
Start thanking God for what you have, and more will manifest.
(d) Walk in Dominion
Since all things are yours, act like a steward, not a slave.
Use what God has given you — your gifts, your time, your influence — for His glory.
5. THE BENEFITS OF KNOWING ALL THINGS ARE YOURS
1. Peace: You stop being anxious about tomorrow.
2. Confidence: You face challenges knowing victory is already secured.
3. Contentment: You no longer envy others; you rest in your inheritance.
4. Boldness in Prayer: You ask without fear, knowing God is not withholding anything.
5. Generosity: You give freely, knowing resources are endless in God’s Kingdom.
6. JESUS’ TEACHING ON WORRY
In Matthew 6:25–34, Jesus said, “Take no thought for your life…”
He reminds us that:
The Father feeds the birds and clothes the lilies.
You are far more valuable than they.
Worry cannot add one hour to your life.
Your responsibility is to seek first the Kingdom — and all these things will be added.
7. CONCLUSION: WALK IN YOUR DIVINE OWNERSHIP
Why worry when all things are already yours?
You are not trying to earn God’s favor—you already have it.
You are not trying to get blessed—you are blessed.
You are not waiting for victory—you walk in victory.
So lift your head, trust God’s Word, and rest in the truth:
> “All things are yours, and ye are Christ’s, and Christ is God’s.”
