THE SECRET OF GOD’S POWER
Our God is a God of power. God created heaven and the earth by the power of His word.
Genesis 1:3 (KJV)
“And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.”
So, God created the universe by the power of His word.
After all creation, God saw that the earth would collapse if He continued to operate on it, so He decided to create an image of Himself called man.
Genesis 1:26 (KJV)
“And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.”
God’s power to control the earth is no longer with God but with man. Adam lost the power to Satan, but Jesus has restored the power.
Matthew 28:18 (KJV)
“And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.”
The power of God has been given to believers by redemption. Stop asking God to give you power and start using His power, available to you, to call things to happen the way you want them.
The part of God is hidden for you and not from you. One of the places where the power of God is hidden is in the Holy Spirit. To receive the Holy Spirit, you must be born again.
John 3:3,5 (KJV)
“Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
“Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.”
Being born again is registration into God’s kingdom of power. Being born again simply means exercising faith in Jesus’ ransom sacrifice. It means taking a radical decision to follow Him no matter what.
2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV)
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
A life filled with the Spirit of God is a life that commands God’s power.
Romans 8:14 (KJV)
“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.”
The Greek word led as used in Romans 8:14 is ago, which means “being totally controlled by.” Until we allow the Holy Spirit to tell us what to say, what to hear, and generally how to live a Christian life, we cannot claim to be Spirit-filled and Spirit-led. Until we are Spirit-filled and Spirit-led, we are not the sons of God.
God’s power is released to the sons, not the children.
Galatians 4:1–2 (KJV)
“Now I say, That the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all; But is under tutors and governors until the time appointed of the father.”
The power we are looking for may not be given to us because we are immature to handle it.
Elijah didn’t wait for God to shut down the heavens—he did.
1 Kings 17:1 (KJV)
“And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilead, said unto Ahab, As the LORD God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word.”
Peter and John didn’t wait for God to heal the lame man at the Beautiful Gate—they initiated action.
Acts 3:6–7 (KJV)
“Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.”
Paul did not wait for God to raise Eutychus in ministry—he took the initiative.
Acts 20:9–10 (KJV)
“And there sat in a window a certain young man named Eutychus, being fallen into a deep sleep: and as Paul was long preaching, he sunk down with sleep, and fell down from the third loft, and was taken up dead. And Paul went down, and fell on him, and embracing him said, "Trouble not yourselves; for his life is in him.”
So you too must rise up and demonstrate God’s power. That is how it works!
